The Kanwariyas have been identified as Ranjit Nayak and Papu Nayak of Banpur area in Khurda district and other deceased as Banamali Patra of Dalibati village in the district.
According to sources, the accident took place when the two Kanwariyas were on their way to Umamaheswarar temple in Balugaon after fetching water from Rushikulya river. After hitting them, the fish-laden truck en route to Bhubaneswar from Berhampur ran over the passerby and overturned. All three died on the spot.
On being informed, Khallikote police reached the spot and seized the truck. The driver has also been detained.
