Balasore: Two kanwariyas reportedly went missing after being swept away while taking a dip in Salandi river on their way to a Shiva temple to pour holy water in Odisha’s Balasore district.
The incident took place in Barada panchayat area under Khaira block of the district when the kanwariyas were proceeding to Shiva temple to perform special rituals on the auspicious occasion of Shravan month Monday, sources said.
The two went missing while taking a dip in the river after they were swept away in the strong current. Another kanwariya had also slipped into deep water, but he was rescued. A search operation has been launched to trace the two missing devotees.
The missing kanwariyas were stated to be residents of Sana Jaipur village in the district.
The devotees were reportedly proceeding to a Shiv temple at Barada under Khaira block to pour holy water on Shivling on Monday in the holy month of Shravan.
