Balangir: Two persons were killed and another sustained critical injury in two separate road accidents in Odisha’s Balangir and Jagatsinghpur districts on Wednesday.
As per a report from Balangir, a motorcyclist was killed after being knocked down by a speeding truck near RTO Square in the town.
The deceased, identified as Umesh Kalsai of Chatapipal village under Bandhapada area of the district, had come to Balangir town for some work when the motorcycle he was riding was hit by the truck. He reportedly died on the spot.
The driver of the truck fled the scene after the mishap. A police team visited the site and seized the truck, while the body was sent for postmortem.
In Jagatsinghpur, a pedestrian was killed while another sustained critical injury when a car hit them near Balia.
As per reports, the car hit the pedestrians as the driver apparently lost control over the wheels. As a result, one person died on the spot while another was seriously injured.
The injured person was immediately rushed to the hospital. Police on receiving the information reached the scene and initiated a probe into the matter.
