Balangir: Two persons were killed and as many critically injured in a collision between a truck and an SUV near on Bangomunda-Bhalumunda road in Odisha’s Balangir district on Monday.
According to preliminary reports, the mishap took place near Fuguda Square. The deceased have been identified as Kishore Das and Lingaraj Saraf. The injured were rushed to a hospital where their condition was stated to be critical.
The accident took place when four persons were on their way to Sinapali from Gaisilat in a Bolero and the speeding truck from Raipur was proceeding to Bangomunda.
As the two vehicles collided head-on near Fuguda Square, two persons died on the spot. Both the vehicles were badly mangled.
Locals informed the police and fire services personnel who rescued the injured and admitted them to the local hospital.
The driver of the truck fled the scene after the mishap. Police have registered a case and launched a hunt for the absconding truck driver.
