Cuttack: Two persons died and more than 20, including women and children, were injured when a bus carrying picnickers overturned after colliding with a pick-up truck near Kamarapada on Cuttack-Paradip Road in Salepur district on Friday morning.
According to sources, driver of the truck and helper of the bus died in the accident.
One of the deceased has been identified as Gyana Ranjan Sahu of Nayagarh. Identity of the other deceased is yet to ascertained.
The accident took place when the bus was on its way to Gorekhnath in Jagatsinghpur from Bhubaneswar with several picnickers aboard.
On being informed, Kishannagar police reached the spot and rescued the injured people from the spot. The injured persons were rushed to the nearby hospital for first aid. Seven among the injured were then shifted to SCB Medical College and Hospital in Cuttack.
