2 Killed, 5 Injured In Lightning Strike In Odisha’s Bargarh

Bargarh: At least 2 persons were killed and 5 others seriously injured as lightning struck them in Odisha’s Bargarh district on Sunday.

According to sources, all the seven persons of Barikel village under Barpalli block of the district had gone to their farmland for transplanting the paddy samplings in the morning. After finishing the work, while they were returning home, it started raining and they took shelter in the shed of a roadside shop.

While the villagers were waiting for the rain to stop, lightning struck them. All of them were critically injured in the incident.

Later, the villagers rushed them to community health centre (CHC) at Barpalli where the doctors declared two persons brought dead. The deceased were identified as Bruhaspati Deep (57) and Abadhut Deep (36).

The other five inured persons were shifted to district headquarters hospital in Bargarh. Minister Rita Sahu has directed the district administration to ensure proper treatment of the injured persons.
