Keonjhar: Two persons died of asphyxiation after inhaling smoke emitted from a generator at a house at Kathabadi under Sadar police limits in Keonjhar district on Thursday night.
The deceased were identified as Baidhar Nayak and Babaji Nayak.
Two others fell seriously ill in the same incident and were admitted to hospital in critical condition.
According to reports, Baidhar had connected a generator in a room of his house after power went out in the area. The room was filled with smoke while the four victims were sleeping. While Baidhar and Babaji were suffocated to death on the spot, the two others became critically ill.
The two ill persons were rushed to the Keonjhar district headquarters hospital. One was later shifted to SCB Medical College and Hospital in Cuttack after his condition deteriorated.
