Sonepur: Two persons were killed after the motorcycle they were riding dashed against an electric pole at Biramaharajpur town in Odisha’s Sonepur district.
As per preliminary information, the two were returning home from work when the accident took place in the wee hours of Tuesday. The victims were identified as Sambit (21) of Kamira under Subalaya area and Sipak Nag (18) from Buthipadar block in the district.
Sambit, employed at a hotel, and Sipak Nag were returning to Sasi Uphula block when their bike lost control and collided with a roadside electric pole near Uphula Narayani Mandir, under the jurisdiction of Birmaharajpur police station. The impact resulted in critical injuries for both riders.
Passersby informed the police, and the injured were rushed to Birmaharajpur Sub-Divisional Hospital, where the doctors declared them dead.
On being informed, a police team visited the spot and initiated a probe. A case was registered and further details are awaited.
