Baripada: Two persons were killed in a head-on collision between their motorcycle and a speeding truck in a hilly road in Odisha’s Mayurbhanj district on Thursday.
According to preliminary information, the mishap took place at Duarasuni Ghati when the bikers were moving on National Highway No. 49 and the truck from the opposite direction dashed against the two-wheeler.
The two persons were rescued by the locals. They were formally declared dead by doctors. One of the deceased was stated to be a woman, while efforts are on to establish their identity.
On being informed, a team of police personnel rushed to the site and launched an investigation. The driver of the truck was stated to have fled the scene after the accident.
