Balasore: Two persons were killed after the car in which they were travelling collided head-on with a speeding dumper in Sadar area of Odisha’s Balasore district on Sunday.
According to preliminary reports, the mishap took place at Kuruda overbridge under the jurisdiction of Sadar Police Station when the two were travelling in the car and the dumper dashed against their vehicle.
The deceased have been identified as Srikant Panda and Mayadhar Raj, both residents of Balasore district.
Soon after the accident the driver of the dumper ran away from the spot.
On being informed, a police team visited the spot and sent the bodies for post-mortem. The police have launched an investigation into the accident and a manhunt for the absconding dumper driver.
