Balasore: Two persons were killed in lightning strike in two villages of Odisha’s Balasore district on Thursday.
As per reports, the victims were identified as Upendra Mallick of Osanga village and Manga Mallick of Balarampur village under Baripada panchayat in Bahanaga block of the district.
Both Upendra and manga had gone to work in farm fields in their respective villages in the afternoon when thunderstorm accompanied by lightning struck the area. Since they were in open area, the lightning struck them and they fell unconscious.
The villagers rushed them to the community health centre at Gopalpur. But the doctors declared them brought dead.
On being informed, a team from Gopalpur police station went to the CHC and sent the bodies for post-mortem. The police have registered two separate cases of unnatural death and launched investigation.
