Baripada: At least two persons, including a woman, died after being hit by a lightning strike at a village in Odisha’s Mayurbhanj district on Monday.
According to sources, the incident took place at Kashipal village under the jurisdiction of Baripada Sadar police station when the two were returning home during a rain and thunderstorm.
They were taken to Pandit Raghunath Murmu Medical College and Hospital in Rangamatiya in an ambulance, where doctors declared them brought dead, a senior police officer said.
The deceased persons were identified as Katul Hansda (48) and Phulmani Hansda (40).
The police have registered a case of unnatural death.
