2 Killed In Separate Hit-&-Run Accidents In Bhubaneswar, Another Critical



Bhubaneswar: Two persons were killed and another sustained critical injury in two separate hit-and-run accidents in Bhubaneswar on Saturday, raising concerns over reckless driving in the capital city.

According to information, the fatal accidents took place at the CRP Square flyover and in Tamando area. Both incidents are being investigated by the police.

In the first incident, a vehicle allegedly rammed into two youths travelling on a


bike on the CRP Square overbridge. One of the youths reportedly died, while the other suffered serious injuries. The deceased has been identified as Soumya Ranjan Mana, a resident of West Bengal.

The injured youth, identified as Jyoti Ranjan Sahu from Jagatsinghpur district, was immediately rescued and admitted to a nearby hospital for treatment. His condition is reported to be critical.

After launching an investigation, police are trying to identify the vehicle involved in the accident. They are also are examining CCTV footage from nearby areas to trace the driver, who fled the scene after the collision.

In another mishap in Tamando police station limits, a youth was killed after being hit by a speeding truck while attempting to cross the road. The victim died due to the severe impact of the collision. His identity is yet to be established.

The truck driver reportedly fled the scene with the vehicle immediately after the accident. Police have registered a case and launched a manhunt to trace the absconding driver and seize the truck involved in the incident.
