2 killed, three injured in lightning strikes

Mayurbhanj/Kendrapada: Two people died and three others were injured after being struck by lightning in Mayurbhanj and Kendrapara districts on Wednesday evening.
A person was killed while three others were critically injured in lightning strike at Dhanakuta village under Badasahi police limits in Mayurbhanj district. The deceased was identified as Sabitri Mahanta.
The incident took place when the trio was working in an open field.
In another incident, a girl student identified as Lipika Rout died after being struck by lightning at Balisahi under Rajnagar block in Kendrapada district. The victim was standing near her house when the mishap occurred.
