2 Meet Watery Grave In Separate Incidents In Odisha

Bhubaneswar: Two persons died after drowning in water bodies in separate incidents in Odisha’s Kalahandi and Puri districts. Their bodies were fished out on Tuesday.

According to a report from Kalahandi, a youth drowned in Reta canal near Gudialipadar village under the jurisdiction of Bhawanipatna Sadar police station. The deceased was identified as Pritish Panigrahy, son of a well-known contractor and businessman in the area.

Pritish had gone to a nearby canal for a bath on Monday. As he did not return home for a long time, his family tried to contact him over his mobile phone which showed switched off.

On being informed, a police team reached the water body and found the youth’s spectacles, dresses, and his mobile phone on its embankment. A team of fire services personnel launched a search to trace the missing youth and his body was fished out on Tuesday.

Bhawanipatna Sadar police seized the body and sent it to hospital for post-mortem. Police have initiated a probe into the incident.

In another incident, a man died after his car skidded off the road and fell into a ditch filled with rainwater near Kotakana Chhak on New Jagannath Road in Kanas area of Puri district.

The deceased was identified as Purusottam Tripathy, who belonged to Puri Sadar police limits.
Locals spotted the car with the body inside and informed the police. Police have registered a case in this connection and initiated a probe.
