Bhubaneswar: Two persons, including a minor boy, drowned in separate mishaps while taking bath after playing Holi in Cuttack and Jagatsinghpur districts of Odisha on Tuesday.
As per information, a Plus-II second year student drowned in a pond at Karamuan village in Salipur area of Cuttack district after playing Holi. The youth was identified as Asish Kumar Das of nearby Chhanipur village.
Sources said the youth had gone to the pond along with friends to take a bath after playing Holi. He slipped deep into the water and locals pulled him out after much effort. He was rushed to a nearby hospital where doctors declared him dead.
In another incident, a boy drowned while taking a bath at Katkula village under Paradip police limits in Jagatsinghpur district after playing Holi. Later when the parents started looking for him. The locals found him and immediately rushed him to the hospital where he was declared dead.
A pall of gloom descended both the villages after the death of both the boys.
