2 Men Hacked To Death By Drunk Villager In Odisha’s Mayurbhanj



Baripada: Two persons were allegedly hacked to death by a drunk man at a village in Tiring area of Odisha’s Mayurbhanj district on Wednesday morning.

According to preliminary information, the incident took place at Kulughutu village under the jurisdiction of Tiring police station in the district. The accused, who was reported to be in an inebriated condition, has been taken into custody by police.

The deceased have been identified as Gopinath Sardar and Budheswar Rana of the same village. The accused, identified as Mochka Alda, allegedly launched a sudden attack o

n the two using an iron shovel, leaving them dead on the spot.

Locals said the accused was standing in front of his house in an intoxicated state. As the two victims were passing by, he allegedly attacked them without provocation, killing them on the spot.

Following the incident, villagers rushed to the spot and overpowered the accused. Villagers tied him up and allegedly assaulted him before informing the police.

After receiving information, a team from Tiring police station visited the site, rescued the accused from the mob, and took him into custody. He was sent to to the Sub-Divisional Hospital in Rairangpur for medical attention before being placed under arrest.

Police sources said the attack appears to have been carried out under the influence of alcohol, and no prior enmity between the accused and the victims has been established so far. However, the exact motive is yet to be ascertained. A case has been registered, and further investigation is underway.
