2 mill owners arrested for misappropriation of Rs 4cr govt rice

Bhubaneswar: The Economic Offence Wing (EOW) of the Crime Branch (CB) on Saturday arrested two mill owners for misappropriating government rice worth over Rs 4 crore.
The accused were identified as Dilip Agarwal of Sabitri Industries of Badchana in Jajpur and Pankaj Agarwal of Ganapati Industries in Bhadrak.
Through a tweet, CB Special DG B K Sharma informed that Dilip and Pankaj were arrested for non-delivery of rice worth Rs 3 crore and 1,22 crore respectively after taking paddy from Agricultural Cooperative Societies.

Senior officials of EOW informed that the duo was arrested basing on the FIRs lodged by Odisha State Civil Supplies Corporation in connection with the failure in delivery of rice by the defaulters. Two separate cases were registered and special teams formed to investigate the matter. The accused will be produced before the court, the officials added.
