2 Minor Boys Buried Alive Under River Sand In Odisha’s Angul

Angul: Two minor boys were reportedly buried alive under sand on a river bank in Odisha’s Angul district on Thursday.

The two children, identified as Badal Behera, son of Kalia Behera and Jayant Pradhan, son of Surendra Pradhan, belonged to Baliamba village under Handapa police station in the district.

Badal and Jayant, both around 9 years of age, had gone to a rivulet on the outskirts of the village to play in the afternoon. As they did not return home till evening, their family members went in search of the children.

Some villagers spotted the two boys’ feet protruding out of the sand on the river bank and informed others. The villagers dug up the place and found the two minor boys dead.

On being informed, a team from Handapa police station went to the spot and sent the bodies for post-mortem. They have registered a case of unnatural death and started investigation.

From preliminary investigation, it is suspected that the children might have been buried after a huge block of sand on the river bank caved in.
