Rayagada: Two minor siblings, who had gone from a village in Odisha’s Rayagada district to work in a seafood processing unit in Visakhapatnam in Andhra Pradesh, reportedly died shortly after their return.
The two boys, who hailed from Makapadar village under Kashipur block in Rayagada, have been identified as Gangadhar Majhi and Maheswar Majhi.
According reports, the boys were found unconscious by the RPF personnel at Rayagada railway station while returning from Visakhapatnam. They were taken to hospital. However, both died in quick succession while undergoing treatment.
The minor brothers had migrated to Andhra Pradesh to work in a sea food processing plant at Palmanpeta under Visakhapatnam district three months ago. However, they reportedly fell ill while working at the plant due to unknown reasons.
Locals alleged that the plant officials made them work harder without seeking medical advice for their health. When their health deteriorated further, the boys decided to return home. They had reportedly borrowed money from their supervisor and boarded a train to return home.
Senior officials were not immediately available for comment on the matter.
