Nayagarh: Two minor brothers were feared drowned in a village pond in Odisha’s Nayagarh district on Wednesday.
According to sources, the two brothers, identified as Chandra Sekhar Swain (8) and Rudra Madhab Swain (3) of Sathiapalli under Khuntabandh panchayat of Naygarah Sadar police station participated in community celebration of Ganesh puja in the village. After taking food in the feast, they went to the village pond to clean themselves in the afternoon.
After some time, some villagers found their slippers and dresses of the two children on the banks of the pond but the two brothers were missing. They alerted others in the village and the villagers started searching for the missing brothers.
The villagers found the brothers drowned in the pond and rushed them to the district headquarters hospital. But both children were declared brought dead by the hospital doctors, the sources said.
