2 Minor Girls Die Of Drowning, One Rescued In Odisha’s Cuttack

Cuttack: Two minor girls died of drowning in a pond while another was rescued in Odisha’s Cuttack district on Monday.

According to sources, the three girls had gone to take bath in the pond of Kuranga Pradhan village under Sadar police limits in the district in the afternoon. While bathing, all the three slipped and went into deep water of the pond.

As they started drowning and cried for help, some locals went to their rescue. By the time the locals reached the deep water, all the girls had drowned. After searching for nearly an hour, they found the girls and brought them to the banks.

They took the girls to local hospital where the doctors declared two girls brought dead. But one girl was alive and admitted in the hospital for treatment. The deceased were identified as Safia Khatun and Nandini Kumari. The identity of the rescued girl has not been ascertained.

On being informed, a team from Sadar police station went to the hospital and sent the bodies for post-mortem. They have registered a case of unnatural death and launched investigation.
