Phulbani: Two minor residents of a child and woman care centre have reportedly fled by scaling its boundary wall in Odisha’s Kandhamal district.
According to sources, both minor girls were staying in Subhadra Mahtab Seva Sadan at G Udaygiri after they were rescued by police. One of them belongs to the area under G Udaygiri police station and another to Chakapada police limits.
Both of them were subjected to exploitation by boys on the plea of love relationship. They had been accommodated in the Seva Sadan on the direction of Child Welfare Committee (CWC) after police rescued them. While one girl was staying there for over 9 months, the other had come 3 months back.
After the two girls left Seva Sadan by scaling its boundary wall, the authorities of the child care centre searched for them in all possible places including their relatives’ places but failed to trace them.
Officer in-charge of G Udaygiri police station Anant Kumar Pradhan said the authorities of the Seva Sadan had filed an FIR about the missing girls. A case has been registered and a search operation is on to trace the girls, he added.
