2 Minor Girls Gangraped In Odisha’s Kalahandi; Efforts On To Nab 5 Accused

Bhawanipatna: In a ghastly incident, two minor girls were allegedly gang-raped by five youths at a village in Lanjigarh area of Odisha’s Kalahandi district.

According to information received from the area, the incident took place when three minor girls were returning home after watching jatra late on Wednesday night.

The matter came to light after the family members of the rape survivors lodged a complaint with the police.

Sources said five youths stopped the girls when they were returning home.While one of the girls managed to run away and escape, the accused took two others to a secluded place nearby and sexually assaulted them.

The accused fled the scene after committing the crime. They also threatened the girls with dire conseqnences if they disclosed the incident to anyone.

The girls narrated their ordeal after returning home and the family members lodged complaint with the police at Bijepur. While the girls were sent for medical examination, a hunt has been launched to trace the accused persons.
