Kendrapada: Good Samaritans managed to save one of the two minor girls who were swept away by the water flow while taking a bath in the Luna River at Banapada village in Mahakalpada block of Odisha’s Kendrapada district on Saturday.
The missing girl has been identified as 14-year-old Abhilipsa Behera.
According to sources, the two minor girls, studying in Class IX, were together taking a bath in the river when they were swept away by water current. Villagers present at the spot jumped into the river and managed to rescue one girl in an unconscious state. She was admitted to the community health centre (CHC) Mahakalapada where she has regained consciousness and is recovering.
A search operation is on for the missing girl. At the time of filing the story, the Fire department personnel and villagers were together searching for the missing girl, sources said.
