2 Minor Siblings Drown In Village Pond In Odisha’s Jajpur

Jajpur: In a tragic incident, a minor boy and his cousin drowned in a village pond in Odisha’s Jajpur district on Saturday.

As per reports, Manas Jena’s 3-year-old son Kanha Jena and Mithun Jena’s 2-year-old daughter Rupa Jena of Kulasahi village under Mangalpur block of the district were playing outside their house on the day. Manas and Mithun are brothers.

While the two brothers had gone out, the children’s mothers were busy in daily chores inside the house. During the play, the children are suspected to have fallen to the pond near the house and drowned.

Later, the mothers of the two children found them missing and started searching in their neighbours’ houses. Even as they were moving around the village, the children were found floating in the pond.

The villagers rescued the children from the pond and rushed them to the community health centre (CHC) at Mangalpur. The doctors of the CHC told them to take the children to the district headquarters hospital at Jajpur.

The parents took their children to Jajpur hospital but the doctors declared them brought dead. On being informed, police went to the hospital and sent the bodies for post-mortem.
