Balasore: In a tragic incident, two minor cousin sisters died after they drowned while bathing together in a village pond in Khantapada area in Odisha’s Balasore district.
As per information, the incident t
ook place at Saanta village under the jurisdiction of Khantapada police station. The two, aged around 10 years. The girls, identified as Annapurna, daughter of Sanjay Mallick, and Anyashree, daughter of Sujit Mallick from nearby Bhuinpada village—had gone for a bath in a pond.
Sources said the girls accidentally slipped into deep water and drowned. As the children did not return home for a long time, their family members began searching for them.
Locals later found the girls submerged in the water and rushed them to the Sub-Divisional Hospital at Nilagiri. However, doctors declared them dead on arrival.
