As per reports, the two sisters, 10-year-old Roshani Rout and seven-year-old Sandhya Rout had come to stay with their maternal grandfather Narshu Patel in Kirtipur village under Sheragada block in the district.

Their mother Reena Rout, who is a daily wage earner and lives in the same village, had gone outside the state to work to support the family income.
