Berhampur: Two minor sisters drowned while taking bath in the pond of a village in Odisha’s Ganjam district on Sunday.
As per reports, the two sisters, 10-year-old Roshani Rout and seven-year-old Sandhya Rout had come to stay with their maternal grandfather Narshu Patel in Kirtipur village under Sheragada block in the district.
Their mother Reena Rout, who is a daily wage earner and lives in the same village, had gone outside the state to work to support the family income.
On the day, the two sisters had gone to bath in the village along with their grandfather. While bathing, they reportedly slipped into deep water and got drowned.
After Narshu informed about the incident, the villagers searched for the two minor girls in the pond. After a long search, they found their bodies.
On being informed, a team from Hinjili police station went to the spot and sent the bodies for post-mortem. They have registered a case of unnatural death and started investigation.
