Sambalpur: Two minor sisters were rescued from Sambalpur railway station while allegedly being trafficked to Chennai. After being rescued, they have accused their mother and her paramour torturing and sexually assaulting them.
Police said the two sisters were being trafficked to Chennai by their mother and her male friend in a train. After getting information about, a team from Belpahar police station in Jharsuguda district launched an operation and rescued the minor girls from Sambalpur railway station. The accused persons were also detained by the police
The two sisters were handed over to the Childline after being rescued and later both were produced before the Child Welfare Committee (CWC).
In their statement, the girls alleged that their mother and her male friend had been torturing them. They also accused their mother’s friend of sexually assaulting them. A thorough investigation is being conducted into the whole episode, police said.
The statements of the two girls will be recorded in the presence of a lady officer and subsequently their statements will also be recorded in the presence of a magistrate. Appropriate action will be taken against the accused persons once the probe is complete, police added.
