Paralakhemundi: In a tragic incident, two minor sisters sustained grievous burn injuries after a mobile phone explosion at a village in Mohana area of Odisha’s Gajapati district on Monday.
Sources said the incident took place at Lakhari village under the jurisdiction of Mohana police station in the district when the two children were watching a video on a mobile phone. The girls have been identified as Namita Raika and Sushila Raika.
When the girls were watching a video, the mobile phone suddenly exploded, leaving both critically injured. One of them got injuries in her hand while her sister sustained burn injuries on leg.
Hearing the noise, family members rushed to the spot and rescued the two in critical condition.
They were immediately rushed to Chandragiri Community Health Centre (CHC) for treatment.
While the exact reason behind the explosion is yet to be ascertained, overheating was suspected to have led to the blast.
