Puri: A two-month-old infant died after being administered with polio vaccine at Brahmagiri primary health centre in Puri district.
The deceased was the daughter of Smrutiranjan Biswal and Jyotsnarani Biswal of Naranpur village in the district.
Sources said the infant’s health condition deteriorated after the vaccination on Wednesday. She was admitted to Rebana-Nuagaon community health centre (CHC) on Thursday, but died during treatment.
The baby’s family and locals accused the CHC staff of medical negligence and staged a protest on the premises to demand action.
Later, police reached the spot and pacified the agitators.
