Berhampur: Police have arrested two more persons in connection with fake doctor’s identity card of MKCG Medical College and Hospital in Odisha’s Berhampur city in Ganjam district.
The security guards had nabbed a diploma engineering student, identified as Dipak Kumar Nahak of Sanakhemundi in the district, while he was moving in the hospital with the fake identity card on Friday. After they handed him over to the police outpost in the medical campus, the latter had taken him to Baidyanathpur police station.
From preliminary investigation and question of Nahak, the police came to know that impersonating a doctor, he was inducing the patients to provide better treatment and taking money from them. He was carrying the forged ID card which mentioned Dr Deepak Kumar Nahak, OPD Supervisor, MKCG MCH, Berhampur. Dipak, who is a 2nd year student of Gandhi Engineering College, stays in a rented apartment at Ankuli.
On further verification, the police ascertained that Dipak had procured the fake ID card after printing it at Rabi Arts in the city. The owner of Rabi Arts, Rabindra Kumar Majhi and a worker, SK Abdul Sattar, knowingly abetted the offence of cheating by providing the forged ID card to Deepak.
Earlier, MKCG Medical College had engaged Rabi Arts to issue ID cards to their doctors. Hence, the shop had access to the original ID card format and signature of Dean of MKCG which was used to make the fake doctor ID card. However, MKCG management has not issued any order to Rabi Arts for making ID cards for the last one year, police sources said.
Following the investigation, the police have arrested all the accused persons and forwarded to the court on Saturday.
