Baripada: Two more persons were reportedly killed by lightning strike in Odisha’s Mayurbhanj district on Tuesday.
According to sources, the two persons, Govind of Dumapada village and Shiva Hansada of Sankhajod village under Betonati police station in the district, had been engaged as farm labourers in the former’s village.
Both Govind and Shiva had gone to farmland for cultivation related work in the morning. Later, rain along with lightning started in the area.
While the two persons continued working in the open amid rain, lightning struck them. The villagers rushed the duo, who were in unconscious condition, to the hospital at Betonati. But the doctors declared them brought dead.
Following their death, a team from Betonati police station went to the hospital and sent the bodies for psot-mortem. They have registered separate cases in this regard.
It may be noted that as many 15 deaths due to lightning in two days were reported from different parts of the state last month.
