Cuttack: Two women from Athagarh in Odisha’s Cuttack district are excited as they are among the chosen ones to tie Rakhi to Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Raksha Bandhan.
Pratima Behera and Sabita Das are among the 50 women who have received the invitation to be present at the PM’s residence in New Delhi to tie Rakhi to Modi on the occasion of Raksha Bandhan. The two are artisans who produce a wide variety of products including Khadi.
Stating that they have never seen the Prime Minister in person, Pratima said it is a dream come true for them to meet and tie Rakhi on Modi’s hand. This is a rare opportunity to meet the PM and tie Rakhi for which they are happy and excited, she said.
The women got the information about the rare opportunity from the KVIC only five days ago.
The Prime Minister promotes local artisans, she said, adding that they are members of Mahila Bikash Parishad and prepare Rakhi. After being invited to visit Delhi, they have prepared Rakhi for the purpose. The Rakhi has been made using ‘patta and tussar with Tulsi and Rudraksha beads in it, she added.
Sabita said that hand-woven Rakhi using own products will immensely benefit the artisans.
