Balangir: Two persons going on a bike were killed in a head-on collision with a pick-up van in Odisha’s Balangir district on Monday.
As per reports, the two persons, identified as Parameswar Dharu and Khirsindhu Sa of Dungaripada village under Belpada police station in the district, were going on the motorcycle towards Belpada in the afternoon on some work.
As they reached a cotton mill near Kapani bus stand on Patnagarh-Belpada road, the pick-up van coming from opposite direction collided with them. While Parameswar and Khirsindhu fell down sustaining critical injuries, the van driver fled with the vehicle.
The locals rushed both injured persons to the community health centre (CHC) at Patnagarh. But Parameswar and Khirsindhu died during treatment.
On being informed, police went to the accident spot and registered a case. They have started investigation to identify the van and its driver who is absconding.
