2 Poachers Arrested, Deer Hide & Antlers Seized In Odisha’s Balasore

Balasore: Two wildlife poachers were arrested and antlers and hides seized from their possession in Oupada area of Odisha’s Balasore district on Sunday.

Acting on an intelligence input, a joint team of local forest officials and Wildlife Crime Control Bureau (WCCB) raided houses at Chakapada and Digitentuli villages under the jurisdiction of Khaira police station and arrested two wildlife poachers.

The two have been identified as Chintamani Prusty and Santosh Mohanty of Digitentuli and Chakapada respectively, a forest official said.

The team, which included the Assistant Conservator of forest (ACF) and Range officer, made the carried out the operation.

The poachers had killed the deer and removed the antler and hide of the animal.

The arrested persons have been booked under sections of the Wildlife Protection Act, 1972.
