Bhubaneswar: On a day when police busted a fake lubricant (engine oil) manufacturing unit in the city, the Special Task Force (STF) of Odisha Crime Branch seized a huge amount of fake tobacco products from two places on the city outskirts on Tuesday.
Separate teams of STF carried out raids at different places in Bhubaneswar and its neighbouring areas to trace manufacture, storage and sale of duplicate tobacco products including cigarettes of reputed brands, according to a release of STF.
The raiding teams seized large quantity of duplicate tobacco products from the possession of one Pabitra Kumar Prasad alias Babu of Badatota under Jatni police limits. A case under Trademark Act, 1999 and Cotpa Act, 2003 has been registered and further investigated is on.
Such products were also recovered from the possession of Laxmidhar Sahoo of Bhakarsahi village under Balipatna police station.
Nearly two quintals of chewing tobacco and 248 bundles of cigarette packets were seized during the raids.
