Cuttack: Two school students reportedly went missing while bathing in Mahanadi river in Odisha’s Cuttack city on Tuesday.
As per reports, eight minor boys had gone to take bath in the river near Siddheswar hill close to Naraj barrage in the city in the afternoon. All of them are Plus II first students of a private school in Cuttack.
While they were bathing, they were pulled by a strong current in Mahanadi which is in spate due to heavy rains for the last few days. While six of them managed to return to the river bank, the two others went missing.
On being informed by the locals, personnel from Fire Services and police rushed to the spot and started a search operation to trace the missing boys in the river.
The police found two backpacks, two pairs of shoes and a scooter from the river bank. They have started investigation to ascertain the identity of the missing students.
