2 Sisters-In-Law Electrocuted To Death In Odisha’s Dhenkanal



Dhenkanal: In a tragic incident, two women were electrocuted to death after coming in contact with a live wire at a village in Hindol area of Odisha’s Dhenkanal district early on Wednesday.

According to preliminary information, the inci


dent took place at Ranjagola village under the jurisdiction of Hindol police station in the district.

The deceased have been identified as Manisha Dehury (40) and Ranju Dehury (38), who were sisters-in-law.

Sources said a live electric wire had snapped and fallen on the ground due to a Kalbaisakhi storm. When Ranju went towards the backyard of the house in the wee hours, she came in contact with the snapped wire and suffered a severe electric shock. Hearing her cries, Manisha rushed to rescue her but was also electrocuted in the process.

Family members immediately rushed to the spot and took both women to Khajuriakata Community Health Centre (CHC) and then to Hindol Sub-Divisional Hospital. However, doctors declared both dead on arrival.

Police have started an investigation into the incident to ascertain the exact circumstances that led to the electrocution.
