Puri: Two tourists from Howrah in neighbouring West Bengal reportedly drowned while taking bath in the sea at Sector 13 near Swargadwar in Odisha’s Puri town on Wednesday.
According to sources, the incident took place around 1.30 pm when five tourists were taking bath in the sea. The lifeguards present there said that they seemed intoxicated and headed into deep sea ignoring their advice. While two among them were swept away by the current and drowned, one was rescued by the fire services personnel and admitted to the district headquarters hospital.
The identity of the tourists is yet to be ascertained.
