Angul: Two women were killed after being attacked by a wild elephant at a village in Bantala area Odisha’s Angul district on Monday.
The incident took place at Badakantakula village when the two victims, identified as Muni Pradhan and Gouri Roul, had gone to a nearby mango orchard to collect the fruits, sources said.
A wild elephent suddenly appeared from a nearby forest when they were picking up mangoes and attacked the duo.
While Muni was trampled to death on the spot, Gouri sustained critical injuries in the attacki. She was admitted to the district headquarters hospital (DHH) at Angul, where she dued during treatment.
It may be noted here that around 10 people have lost their lives in elephant attacks in Bantala area in the last four months.
