Bhubaneswar: The COVID-19 toll in Odisha touched 8,279 on Friday with five more deaths being confirmed in the last 24 hours.
According to Health department sources, two deaths have been reported from Bhubaneswar and three from Nabarangpur district.
Here are the details of the deceased after an audit:
1.A 70 years old female of Bhubaneswar who was also suffering from Diabetes Mellitus & Hypertension.
2.A 51 years old female of Bhubaneswar who was also suffering from Diabetes Mellitus & Hypertension.
3.A 70 years old male of Nabarangpur district.
4.A 40 years old male of Nabarangpur district.
5.A 53 years old male of Nabarangpur district.
Notably, Odisha has reported 6,394 COVID deaths during the second wave against 1,876 the previous year.
There were 346 casualties due to the disease in the state in September. Similarly, 2,056 fatalities were registered in August, while July saw 1,903 deaths, June 1,272 and May 737, said sources in the Health Department.
The second wave of the pandemic has claimed the lives of 40 children and adolescents in Odisha. As many as 13 of these deaths were reported between August 10 and 31.
