2 Women Held In Kolkata With Headless Body Of Relative In Trolley Bag

Kolkata: Two women, a mother-daughter duo, were arrested from the banks of the Ganga in Kolkata on Tuesday morning for carrying the headless body of another woman in a trolley bag. The body had been chopped into four pieces before being stuffed into the bag.

“It seems that the two women, identified as Falguni Ghosh and Aarati Ghosh, were trying to dispose of the body by throwing the trolley bag into the river. During preliminary interrogation, one of the women claimed that the body is of her Pisi Sasuri (father-in-law’s sister). Further investigation is on,” a senior officer of the Kolkata Police said.

The arrested women are residents of Barasat, North 24-Parganas, in the northern suburbs of Kolkata. They apparently reached Sealdah railway station in the city by an early morning local train. From there, they hired a cab to take them around the city.

According to the cab driver, the women first went to Prinsep Ghat. After loitering at the crowded riverfront there for a while, the two asked him to take them to another ghat. The driver apparently took them to the Kumartuli Ghat, further north.

“Morning walkers were suspicious when they saw the two women dragging a trolley bag towards the river. On being questioned, the mother-daughter duo claimed that the bag contained the body of their pet dog which they wanted to dispose of in the river. The locals prevented them from doing so and informed the police,” the official said.
