2 Women Killed By Lightning Strike In A Village In Odisha’s Puri

Puri: Two women were reportedly killed due to lightning strike in Gop area of Odisha’s Puri district on Sunday.

According to sources, in one incident, Rina Bhoi of Dihasahi under Gop police station in the district had gone to the village pond to attend the rituals of her grandmother’s death in the afternoon. While she was performing the rituals, the lightning struck the area. Rina died on the spot after being struck by the lightning, the sources said.

In the second incident, 18-year-old Saraswati Swain was in the cattle shed of her house when lightning struck there. Sarswati fell unconscious apparently due to the lightning.

The villagers rushed Saraswati to the community health centre in Gop. But the doctors declared her brought dead.

The death of two women for lightning strike at a time has spread a shock in the area.
