Baripada: Two women of a family were killed and five others grievously injured when the car they were travelling in got crushed between two trucks in Bangiriposi area of Odisha’s Mayurbhanj district on Saturday.
According to preliminary information, the mishap took place at Daurasuni ghati on National Highway No. 49 in Bangiriposi area of the district in the afternoon.
While two women reportedly died on the spot, five others were rescued and sent to hospital for treatment. Their condition was stated to be critical.
Sources said the family members, who hail from Kharagpur in West Bengal, were returning after visiting a temple when the mishap took place. After a truck hit their car from the rear, the vehicle rammed into another truck moving in the front.
Police and fire services personnel from Bangriposi rushed to the site after getting information about the accident and carried out the rescue operation.
