Koraput: Two workers were killed following a landslide at a railway tunnel construction site in Laxmipur area of Odisha’s Koraput district on Wednesday.
According to reports, work was in progress for the expansion of a line of tunnel number 2 on Koraput-Rayagada route when the mishap took place. The two workers were trapped as a portion of the under-construction tunnel caved in.
The deceased have been identified as Rabi Prapeka, a worker from Burja village and Jahruddin from Assam.
On getting information, police and fire service personnel rushed to the spot. The bodies were recovered and sent to hospital for postmortem. Senior railway officials also rushed to the site.
