2 Workers Killed In Pipeline Explosion In Odisha’s Nayagarh

Nayagarh: At least 2 persons were reportedly killed and 3 others critically injured in a pipeline explosion in Odisha’s Nayagarh district.

According to sources, the incident took place while some labourers were engaged in laying gas pipelines of GAIL India Ltd at Sunalati under Itamati police station in the district.

While they were doing the cleaning work of the pipelines with the help of a compressor, there was an explosion. On the impact of the blast, two workers were pressed under the compressor and three others thrown to a distance.

Other labourers and company officials rushed all the five injured persons to the district headquarters hospital in Nayagarh. Two of the injured labourers were declared dead by the hospital’s doctors while three others, who sustained critical injuries, are undergoing treatment.

The deceased workers were identified as Sone and Bijay Ganguly from Maharashtra. On being informed, a team from Itamati police station rushed to the spot and started investigation.
