2 Youths Die While Taking Photographs Of Waterfall In Odisha’s Bargarh

Bargarh: Adventure proved fatal for two youths as they slipped into Kapildhar waterfall at Nrusinghanath in the district on Thursday.

The deceased were identified as Khirod Soni (20) and Bijaya Mahakur (18) of Jhitiki village. According to police, Khirod, Bijaya and his brother Gyana Mahakur had gone to Nrusinghanath on a bike.

All of them climbed to the top of the hill to take snaps of the waterfall. While clicking pictures, Khirod and Bijaya slipped and fell several feet down into the waterfall, according to a TNIE report.

On being informed by Gyana, police along with fire personnel rushed to the spot and launched rescue operations.
The body of Khirod was recovered from near the bed of the waterfall. Though Bijaya’s body was spotted, it could not be retrieved. DSP Dinesh Naik said the operation to retrieve Bijaya’s body was stopped due to darkness.
“We have already located the body of Bijaya which is stuck in rocks of the waterfall. We will retrieve it on Friday morning,” Naik said.
