Bhubaneswar: Two youths drowned and their two friends went missing while taking a bath in Kuakhai river on the outskirts of Bhubaneswar on Tuesday.
According to sources, 8 friends from Bhubaneswar had gone on a picnic to Dhabalahara under Balianta police station on the banks of Kuakhai in the morning. While the food was being cooked, all 8 friends went to take bath in the river.
The water level in the river had gone up due to rain and there was a strong current. The youths went into deep water and were pulled by the current. While four of them managed to return to the banks, others went missing.
On being informed, Fire personnel went to the spot and launched a search operation. They could find the bodies of two youth but failed to trace two others. The search operation continued till evening.
