Balasore: In a tragic incident, two youths died after drowning while participating in the ‘dasaha karma’ – the 10th day ritual – of their grandfather at a village in Odisha’s Balasore district on Saturday.
The incident took place when they were taking a bath in a village pond at Patharakata of Bagudi panchayat under the jurisdiction of Soro police station of the district.
The deceased were identified as Sushant Kumar Padhi from Wada village and Chandan Kar from Bidu area in the district.
According to sources, the youths were taking a bath after tonsuring their heads while performing the rituals for their departed grandfather Bishnu Charan Padhi. The two slipped deep into the water failed to come out.
The two were later pulled out of the pond and rushed to a government-run hospital in Soro where doctors declared them brought dead.
